Surf the Musical, featuring songs of The Beach Boys, opens in Las Vegas

If you're a fan of the 60's California beach lifestyle and The Beach Boys, like we are, then here's a show you might want to catch the next time you're in Las Vegas. Surf the Musical, the feel-good production featuring the songs of the Beach Boys, just opened at the Showroom at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Music-lovers of all ages will revel in the onstage sparkle of the big waves, as Surf the Musical rocks the audience with legendary beach songs. The show tells a story of love and fun, set in the nostalgic, happy times of the 1960s Southern California beach community.
The musical celebrated its world premiere with a star-studded red carpet and party, featuring celebrity guests and Vegas headliners such as: American Idol alum Taylor Hicks, Carrot Top, Frankie Moreno, singer Debbie Gibson, Nathan Burton, Chippendales, the cast from Tony & Tina's Wedding and Marissa Jaret Winokur (Dancing with the Stars, Hairspray on Broadway).
Tickets are priced at $64, $84, $104, $144, excluding taxes and fees and can be purchased in person at the Planet Hollywood Showroom Box Office, online at www.surfthemusical.com and www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (866) 633-0195.

Designer Lisa Blue runway show opens up the Swim Week festivities in Miami Beach

Last night was the opening night at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami, the big shindig for swimwear industry people -- and the lead runway show was Australia's Lisa Blue. Designer Lisa Burke is one very cool lady -- she's a surfer girl and former model who was inspired to start her swimwear company after a chance encounter with a mother and baby humpback whale in Tonga a few years ago. She now designs an amazing swimwear collection for women who are sexy, powerful and environmentally conscious, and donates 25% of her net profits towards her passionate cause of protecting the whales and dolphins. From a fashion point of view, last night's collection for 2013 was truly inspired -- a mix of Grecian enchantresses, pinups, country girls and dragon themes that kept the audience enthralled. We saw several suits that we can't wait to shoot on our own Bikini.com Supermodels, especially from her pinup grouping. Lisa says this is the Year of the Dragon -- and we forecast very good fortune for Lisa Blue, and for lovers of great looking swimwear.

On the celebrikini front, Dancing with the Stars' Karina Smirnoff walked the runway in a flamenco-styled bikini and cover up -- and spotted in the front row was Dancing with the Stars' Brooke Burke with her husband actor David Charvet, and singer and NBC's The Voice's Christina Milian.

Letarte Swimwear wins 'Made in the USA' award

What could be more All-American than a bikini? The people who make the bikini. Congrats to Letarte Swimwear, who just got inducted into the "Made in the USA" Hall of Fame.

The Made in the USA Foundation announced 20 winners recently at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel in Santa Monica, California. Joel D. Joseph, Chairman of the Foundation, said, “The Hall of Fame Awards was established two years ago to celebrate the best that America produces. I have heard many times that ‘nothing is made here.’ The Hall of Fame showcases exceptional U.S. manufacturers and demonstrates that many high-quality products are made in the United States. The U.S. is still the leading manufacturing nation in the world." Letarte Swimwear is in great company, since fellow 2012 Hall of Fame winners include Herman Miller (office furniture), Chevy Volt (Electric cars), Channel islands (surfboards) and Google (software).

The iconic Maui-based label – created by sisters Lisa Letarte Cabrinha and Michele Letarte Ross – debuted the elite designs of swimwear, coordinating cover-ups and sportswear in 2000. Bikini.com teams up with Nikki Beach Miami for Swim Week party

One of Bikini.com's absolute favorite places in Miami Beach is Nikki Beach, the famed outpost of the international beach club (clubs in ten cities in eight different countries from St. Tropez and Marbella to Morocco and even Thailand).
